Cuba, that beautiful Caribbean country anchored in the past in many socioeconomic aspects, has become an exemplary destination for fishing the most prized tropical saltwater species that every fly fisherman longs to catch. 

The two fishing destinations of this trip are located within the Ciénaga de Zapata National Park, in the province of Matanzas. Here we will find numerous species, among them: Bonefish, Permit, the desired Tarpon, Barracuda and Snook. Depending on the season of the year you are visiting, you will easily find one or another species, as well as in smaller or larger groups or sizes.

Towards the end of March, bigger groups of permits will start to show up, even if they are permanent inhabitants of the area the whole year. At the beginning of April and in the midst of the great tarpon migration we will enjoy unique experiences, together with the common bonefish schools. So to sum up: spring is the best moment to come find the most desired species. In summer months the Barracudas will give you great experiences and lots of fun, but we don’t recommend visiting this country during this period of the year.

This organized tour is not just about fishing, like usually in ikantravel, but about the food: cuban gastronomy will be always present in the program. A dinner based on grilled fish, lobster and shrimps are the icing on the cake, which added to the contact with the local people will make it a very authentic and enriching experience.
